There is folklore from multiple cultures explaining the curious stones with naturally occurring holes and what it offers: good luck, protection, view of the faeries. One thing is certain though, looking through a stone offers a new perspective. The narrow field of vision through stone offers focused attention, it can renew curiosity, and bring out details lost in the chaos of everything.
Hag Stone Studio embodies a belief in slow, intentional creation and the magic of natural materials. Material consumption doesn’t need to be wasteful or exploitative, that is why we create in house, by hand, and prioritize use of deadstock, vintage, remnant or otherwise zero-waste natural materials.

Process:
The organic background of this cyanotype was done by reintroducing water to the sensitized paper during the UV exposure, this is called a wet cyanotype.

Process:
The depth in this cyanotype was created by use of a double exposure. The process involves exposing the sensitized paper to UV twice, imprinting two images on top of each other. In this case, about half the fern was printed twice.
