naturally dyed goods
Aevum: age, eternity
About:
Cyanotypes are a historic photographic process first used nearly 200 years ago to capture the silhouette and impression of plant material with the sunโs UV rays. Our cyanotypes are also photograms, meaning the materials are placed directly onto sensitized paper to record each detail at its actual size. The long exposure time of this process allows for experimentationโ like watercolor paint, and layering multiple exposures on a single print. No two cyanotypes are the same, and we love that echo of natureโs spontaneous imperfection.
Cyanotypes are one of a kind. All our cyanotypes listings is for an original unique piece, not a copy. You will receive the pictured cyanotype photogram. No sold out cyanotypes will come back in stock, there is only one of each.

New tiny fern growth emerging from rain soaked soil.

Process:
The organic background of this cyanotype was done by reintroducing water to the sensitized paper during the UV exposure, this is called a wet cyanotype.

Donโt be a stranger
An oak leaf and itโs shadow.
life cycle, remembrance, thoughtfulness
Process:
The โshadowโ in this cyanotype was created by use of a double exposure. The process involves exposing the sensitized paper to UV twice, imprinting two images on top of each other. In this case, the oak leaf was printed twice.
